Proof quarter marks are back in style! This photo shows the quarter marks on the 2008 Rolex Kentucky 3 Day Event winning horse, Connaught. These marks were done for dressage, but Connaught also wore quarter marks during the showjumping portion of the Rolex 3 Day Event. Quarter marks are patterns brushed into a horses coat made by brushing the horses' coat against the grain in a pattern, or against the grain using a stencil. In this photo, connaught's hindquarters show both stroke horse-quarter marks and (higher on the butt) stencilled horse quarter marks.
